Anytime my phone rings when my kids are at school I am always convinced it is the school nurse calling to tell me that my child is hurt. (Am I the only one this paranoid?) So during the first week of school when I get a phone call from my friend Stacey I happily pick up. Much to my surprise, she informed me that Noah's school nurse had contacted her trying to get a hold of me?!?! I was already at the school waiting in the van to pick him up. So I run up to the building thinking he probably had had issues with his new uniform pants during a bathroom break. I round the corner to the nurses office to find Noah asleep on the paper lined bed with his arm wrapped up in a splint. My poor Noah was broken. Apparently the monkey bars proved to be a little too complicated for my kindergartner.
Dangling from the bars he said, "I just ran out of strength." He couldn't hold on any longer. He dropped and fell to the ground hard.
After five weeks of having partial baths and five weeks of having a 24/7 weapon attached to his arm, the cast came off and he was a whole new kid again. He survived his first broken arm and so did his mommy.
