Here is my puffy eyed Lukey on his first day of first grade. He was so excited to wear his red shirt and show off his new Star Wars backpack and lunch bag. He told me he didn't want to put his lunch bag inside his backpack, he wanted to carry it for all to see. He has been in school for a month now and seems to be enjoying himself. Of course if you ask him what he has learned you get your typical boy answer of.... "nothing". He has a teacher who understands him and loves him. She told me during Parent Night, "Most of the time I think Luke isn't paying attention, but then I ask him a question, he knows exactly what going on." That's my Luke, always in "lala land", and yet still managing to learn something. He has started to have "real" homework now and I don't know who hates it more, me or him. But I'm excited to see him power through this year and really pick up on reading. He is such a smarty pants and I love him.
To show off just how smart he is, take a look at this video. It is one of his favorite star wars clips and he has the ENTIRE thing memorized! The kid is amazing!
Woo-hoo handsome boy! I feel your pain with the homework- we have had some major tears over here, both me and Kyle. I think it's wrong for a six year old boy to go to six hours of school and STILL come home with an hour of homework... but that's life. Oh man, I wish our boys could play Star Wars together- mine have been in that obsession all summer. Luke would flip over the amount of Star Wars guys we have from Matt's old collection.
The Chaffins were established on June 28th 2002, in El Paso,Texico. After 3 years going to school in Idaho, we moved to El Paso. Where we currently reside.
